T587 Old World Bluestem

T-587 Old World Bluestem (Diachanthium)

T- 587 Old World Bluestem is an introduced perennial warm-season bunchgrass. Introduced from the Near East, and released by the Soil Conservation Service in 1981, T-587 Old World Bluestem is a high forage producer and the sod is very persistent under heavy grazing. It is widely adapted to diverse climates and soils in Texas, however it prefers tighter clay soils. T-587 grows well in South Texas.

Adaptation: Grows on most soil types with 14" or more annual precipitation. Responds well to fertilizer and/or irrigation.

Intended Use: Range reseeding, pastureland, hay production and erosion control.
