Browntop
Millet
BROWN
TOP MILLET is a warm season annual grass that originated from
South East Asia and is used in the southern United States.
It is used for forage, hay, pastures and interseeded with
other grasses for erosion control along highways and reclamation
sights. Millet seed is an excellent food source for birds
and the forage provides excellent cover for dove and quail.
Brown Top
millet has proven to be extremely palatable and desired by
wild hogs. Outfitters who provide wild boar hunts should definitely
consider this for their food plots.
Brown top millet is usually planted in early spring and grows
rapidly. Its quick germination and fast growth provide early
grazing. These same traits make it an ideal plant for soil
stabilization. Millet is adapted to well drained soils and
can be grown in soils of low fertility.
